Global VS Local Domains and How They Affect Websites For Electricians
In this case study we give you 3 things you can do for your electrical business website to help it be successful.
He’s run a successful electrical company in the Australian Capital Territory for several years now. To keep his business modern and competitive, he chose to work with Tradie Web Guys to make sure his website ticked all the boxes when it came to marketing best practice.
First Quarter of SEO
What gets measured gets improved! Each one of our websites has Google Analytics enabled, so we can track progress. So far visitors are spending more than 4 minutes on Ferreira’s website, taking in the images, video and information, with 7% converting to a lead!

The Business
The company’s founder, Tim, has a deep understanding of Canberra’s, having lived and worked in the area for almost a decade. With Tim at the helm, and a team of skilled electricians by his side, True Connection Electrical has grown a reputation for being the reliable, efficient, and affordable electrical services in the region.
The Objective
With this marketing strategy and website for electricians True Connection, we had two main goals that ultimately will lead to increased conversion rates for clients.
- Improve his organic search results
- Improve user experience
These things can be achieve through a basic website upgrade, which can be completed in anywhere from 1-4 weeks (depending on the amount of content required and number of pages).
The Solution
As part of our initial Opportunity Assessment, we could tell Tim straight away that his .com domain might be confusing the search engines. Typically .com is used for global brands, whereas he works only locally. To better capitalise on the local market, moving True Connection Electrical’s website to a .com.au was on the roadmap. This would signal to search engines that this company only services Australia.
Secondly, we looked at his existing pages and sitemap, and decided he could benefit from professional copywriting. His existing pages had very little information for the reader, and adding to this content would also help his website be seen by search engines. More quality words on your website describing what you offer means more for the internet to crawl.
Finally, the navigation was improved. A lot of tradie businesses think they can get away with a one page website – however you can lose the interest of valuable leads if they can’t find the information they want, straight away. So improving navigation and providing relevant content is SO important to a great user experience.
You can see that the new website looks great, is easy to navigate and has just the right amount of content. Tim has invested in professional photography and it makes his website stand apart from the rest! Prospective leads love to see the face of who will turn up at their door – so it’s up to you to give them that peace of mind.
Final Thoughts/Results
If there’s one takeaway from this case study, it that there is one thing you can start doing today, and that’s creating content for your business.
You have the choice to use stock imagery, or your own images – and your own images will ALWAYS convert better. So don’t be afraid to invest in quality videography/photography, or putting your face to your business. It will definitely pay off!
We look forward to seeing this website climb the ranks. While it’s only been live just over a month, it’s getting good results from organic search.
